DamirGTI 342 Posted April 13, 2007 Hi ! Can somebody expalne me why the tappets gets noisy when i'm using car harder ? is it oil maybe or what ?!? I've set valve clearance 0.20 on all inlet valves (only one at 0.25) and 0.35 for all exhaust valves wich is good clearance me thinks .. engine is rebuild with modified head valves valve seats and high compression pistons .. The engine sounds really quiet when driving normal but as soon as i start to use ti harder the noise increase and become a bit tappety , and when i back of the trottle and let it cool to normal temperature that tappety sound dissapires and it run quiet agan Why is this hapening ? (the same thing was hapening to me before with other 1.9 engine but this one is fully rebuild and i don't understand why is this sound back again on this new engine ?!?!) Thanks Damir

pip470 61 Posted April 13, 2007 pinking can sometimes sound like a tapping noise check and retard your timing a bit and give it a go.
