Jrod 7 Posted April 12, 2007 Right I've converted my 1.6 drums to 1.9 discs and calipers. Had no problem swapping it all over but i'm not sure if the stub axbles are all the way in? I hit them from behind and they look to be sat exactly the same place as old ones but I just wondered if there is a way to make sure? Will tightening up the hub nut pull it all into place? Also has anyone got the torque figures for 1.9 beam off the top of their head (can't find my haynes... )
PsychoSimon 0 Posted April 12, 2007 the 1.6 stub axles are about 15mm shorter than the 1.9 ones. I ran like this for a while however, without problems, but a guess the perfectionists would say you absolutely need 1.9 stub axles
Jrod 7 Posted April 12, 2007 I have got 1.9 ones. I hit the old 1.6 ones out and hit the new 1.9 ones in but want to make sure they are all the way in?
PsychoSimon 0 Posted April 12, 2007 ahh, in that case then yeah when you do up the hub nut, it will pull together thw whole assembly. For tightening it up, i normally do it tight as, then back it off 8th of a turn and make sure ite hub 1.still spins and 2.hasnt got any play in it
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted April 12, 2007 off the top of my head the rears are done to around 170lb ft, they will pull thru if the splines are lined up
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted April 13, 2007 Torque the rear hubnut to an intial torque of 220lbft & then using a suitable drift make sure that the stub axle is driven fully home in the radius arm. Slacken off the hubnut & re-torque to 180lbft & peen over the nut. Graham.
