ive blown my engine so while its apart im thinking bout making this one better. at the mo its got a PIPER 270 cam in it. should i go for a 285 or is it too much? i have R1 carbs,lightened fly wheel,4 branch n full group A system(i know the bore is too big) id like the power to end at 6200 so it still revs like a normall 205.

 

its a 1.9 engine

I have a similar spec to you but only a 1.6 - mine has a 279 CatCam in it. It goes on the rollers on Friday so I'll let you know what performance is like

ive heard good things bout cat cams before only thing is i not sure what degree of cam to go for as i dont have a clue about them. the 270 didnt seem different from standard thats why i wanted another one

If you want to run on std springs then go for the 4900339

 

If your happy to change the springs and retainers then 4900340 or 4900342

I´ve just bought 2nd hand not used piper 270 ones. Im a bit confused, Im thinking on sell it and take back money. What do you think about them? im running on shortened manifold and standard ecu. Will I gen any improvement?

 

Hodgy, what advance/retard did you use on 270 verniers´cams?

i bought a re built engine with it in so i have no idea what the timing was as i never got round to getting it set up on the carbs

im happy to change them but i have no idea what all the numbers mean in what you posted. im guessing the cams you posted are what you recamend for my set up?
