Starter Motor Dont Work!

Hi i have a 1.9 gti. the other day the starter motor buggered up and luckily enough my mates 205 1.6 gti had been wrote off so he said i could have his starter motor. now his is one of the first 1.6's made an has the old lift up to get in reverse. i put the starter motor onto mine and now it jst dont work at all. it sounds like its struggling to turn. but does not turn at all. can any one tell me whether i need to get a starter motor specificly for a 1.9 gti please

It should fit just fine. Try doing a search for the Brown multiplug as this is more than likely your problem. Have you checked voltage with a multimeter??

Starter motors are the same for the GTi's, better stiil get one from any 205 diesel. Fit straight one but a stronger starter.
