Recommended Posts

ok, my orginal sump is battered and fooked

so fitting a gti-6 one

i assume it's a straight fit?

do i take off the spacer? and just fit the sump to the block?

also sealing is there a gasket? or just sealant?

It does bolt on, You'll need shorter sump bolts which should come with the sump and just use good qulaity sealent for the join, And yes the block stiffener (spacer) comes off.

Surely its not a good idea to remove the stiffener plate on the alloy engine? The crank goes out of true easily enough with the plate on.

I think I'd opt to keep the plate and just fill it with more oil too.

sadly it didn't come with the bolts nor did it have the temp sender

do you know how long the bolts are?

and will the sender from my sump bolt straight in?

The Alloy sump takes some of the strength of the plate but on a normal 8v engine I;ve never had a problem not running it, the 405 and BX didn't have this fitted either and 5bhp shy and more torque or in the real world I expect the same power in both.

I'll see if I have any bolt's kicking around to measure

I don;t use gasket's as sealent does the job just fine is the right one, Or the gasket goes on dry and compress's up slowly so it's a case of checking the bolt's a couple of times before oil then again once up to temp and cooled down

Maybe you need one of the new 14mm thread oil temp senders, Pug part #0242 81?

Graham.
