Baz 421 Posted April 4, 2007 Not one easily available, but i don't see why you can't change from discs to drums, using all the bits from a 1.6 beam to a 309 beam etc
Jrod 7 Posted April 4, 2007 Why do you want drums? As far as I know all of the 309 beams are the same width but a model with drums will have smaller ARB and Torsion bars? I'd ditch the speedlines and get soemthing wider.

Jrod 7 Posted April 4, 2007 Maybe fit some drums to the front then?
calvinhorse 870 Posted April 5, 2007 i like it.. seriously tho i have had loads of rear calipers seize but this aint what the treads about, i need a wider than standard drum break rear beam, any ideas?
Grim.Badger 15 Posted April 5, 2007 Iirc a TD or 1.6 309 beam should suit you as the drums should be about the same size as yours (provided your still running XS drums) and the TBs/ARB will be slightly thicker. Like BazGTMi said though getting hold of one may be a bit of a trial. The main width difference between the 205 and 309 beams is the tube itself; differences in width between the different models are based on the brakes afaik. taylorspug 7 Posted April 5, 2007 (edited) Try either a 309 diesel or maybe an SRI beam if you can get hold of one (think these had drums). A couple of people i know have run the diesel 309 beam, smaller torsion bars and all, and said it made a very good drive on the road, not quite as rock solid and crashy as the 309 GTI item. The beam tube will be the same width as the 309 GTI item, although running drums instead of disks may affect this slightly, but the basic dimensions of the beams are the same. EDIT: What he said^^! mi16nut 0 Posted April 5, 2007 I've got a 309 GTi standard ARB that you could buy off me to improve a lower model beam Mark.
