Mi16 Ticking

Recommended Posts

Guest cheesy-peas

Hiya i did a search but couldnt find anything for definate. Ive got a 1.9 mi16, when im driving both accelerating and deacclerating my engine is making a nice ticking noise (is literally tick, tick, tick) which speeds up as i do and vice versa. One thing i did notice is that my speedo needle woont stay still it sort of corresponds with the ticking. has anybody else had this problem before? Thanks in advance.

I had that on one i bought many years ago, it was the speedo ticking, stripped it down and found someone had tried clocking it (not saying thats whats up with yours) assuming it only does it when in motion, not just revving engine at standstill??

I could be a broken tooth on the trip counter, or the speedo cable could be on its way out. That's all I can think of at the moment.

Yeah, dash related. Easy fix.

I bet it's the speedo dial or its cable. The cables always naff up on Citroens too.

disconect the speedo but leave the cable in so it still spins if it goes away its not the cable and its the instruments, i yust ran some oil down the spedo cable when my 1.1 was making a funy noise seemed to solve it :)

or just turn the stereo up :P
