All Praise The GTI

hi guys ive got an 88 plate 1.6 gti with 130 k on clock which drinks as much oil as petty!

wanted a 1.9 lump but came across another 1.6 with only 65k on it from a 91 plate and can get it fitted real cheap so bought it.

i need a few probs solving for me tho please if you may(done searches with no luck):

mine has a separate coil and the new lumps is on the manifold... how do i convert?

new lump has power steering and i dont want it, can i just rip the motor off or is it more complex then that???

mine has lift to left for reverse new one is under 5th, do i just remove cable?

help is much appreaciated thanks guys

1. use your old manifold, the older round coils mounted on the inner wings are cheaper.

2. just swap the alternator bracket and tensioner from your old engine

3. this doesnt have anything to do with then engine?!?!

Or just keep the manifold on the new lump and just unscrew the coil from it and use the original on the wing. Saves having to buy a new inlet manifold gasket that way.

Miles

You'll need a new clutch cable for the BE3 box but all the linkages are the same, the shorter one will need adjusting thou, Just don;t install the cable
