All Praise The GTI 3 Posted April 2, 2007 hi there guys need some help if ive tried a search but came up blank so here goes: ive got an 88 plate f 1.6 gti so got a separte coil on wing and im dropping in a newer engine 1991 with coil on manifold how do i convert? help much appreciated Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
jackherer 543 Posted April 2, 2007 Use the old coil and the old wiring loom with the new engine, ecu, airflow meter etc If the redundant lugs on the inlet manifold bother you either grind them off or swap for the old engines manifold. You could fit the new loom and use the inlet mounted coil, or just extend the wiring on the old loom so it reaches the inlet but leaving the wiring intact is the best bet reliability wise.
