Baz 421 Posted April 1, 2007 I've a few magnex systems, a couple are braced or 'skided' and one of my olive type BB's is not. The point i'm making is they all seem to crack, especially the centre boxes on the opposite side to the brace, and one of my BB's has also cracked where the pipe comes into it from the front. I'm pretty disappointed in them to tell the truth!! Has anyone seen similar, i'm presuming it's pretty common as a friend of mine has had a similar problem with his too? So what have people done to overcome it? I've welded up the olive fit BB, but it's getting beyond a joke, as i got these after thinking their long life stainless and wouldn't need much maintaining!! It's now looking like i'll have to weld up the centre sections too, and was possibly thinking about adding bracing to the other side that doesn't already have it also. The bad point is that it will just be MIG welded, with some stainless wire, and coated in some VHT paint, but still not ideal! On a side note, I've also noticed that there's different part numbers on the boxes, out of my bits of 3 systems, not one piece has the same number, even though 2 of the centre sections are identical, albeit one came from a 309?? Is there actually any difference inside to the baffling etc does anyone know? Barry
Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted April 1, 2007 Ive had 2 back boxes and neither has cracked although from 2 maniolfd Ive fitted one cracked along the pipe. No idea about the numbers, maybe they arent part numbers, just production numbers for magnex's references?
pugrallye 0 Posted April 2, 2007 cracking comes as std with magnexs as far as i remember, they do have a warranty with them though, so send it back

Baz 421 Posted April 2, 2007 Magnex and 16V is not a good combo anyway.... Only one of my 16v's is running a Magnex, and just a BB atm too, was going to fit a whole system to a modified downpipe though on the white one, can you explain why this is perhaps not such a good idea please Hilgie? Hilgie 16 2 Cars Posted April 2, 2007 We've had several cars with a Magnex centerbox and ALL of them showed cracks and loose stuff inside after only 1000 miles.
