Moys1.9 0 Posted March 31, 2007 Looked through searches and still not sure which one it is. I'm looking for the filling hole or breather for the gearbox. Mine is a 1989 and the box has only the final drive drain bolt, not like older models. So, far I have found a DEEP hole under the dizzy, also one closer to the battery is a nut with plastic mushrommy cover and alls more to the front of the box a plastic cover with god knows what underneath. I've not really done any gearbox stuff before so struggling to get to grips with the lingo cheers
Faz85 0 Posted March 31, 2007 (edited) If you cant find it, your filler plug may have been replaced by the inclusion of a reverse gear stop. The cable enters the gearbox where the breather would have been fitted. You should be able to unscrew the cable from the casing and fill it from here. Faz EDIT: If you just have the one level plug, i.e. BE3 transmission, fill from here until clean oil starts to dribble out, which indicates the correct level Edited March 31, 2007 by Faz85
pug_life 0 Posted March 31, 2007 make sure its fully drained underneith, then lft reverse cable hole is where i usually fill from, if its later BE3 you should still be able to fill from this spot but it'll be a plastic screw in cover instead of cable. d-9 0 Posted March 31, 2007 Take the wheel off and fill it using the level plug on the side. Single 19mm bolt iirc.
Andrwn8304 0 Posted March 31, 2007 (edited) The filler plug also doubles up as a breather, to answer your question its the plastic 19 mm nut with the little sticky up bit on next to the earth strap from the gearbox. Only put 1.8 ltrs in tho. Edited March 31, 2007 by Andrwn8304
