laser green 1.9 0 1 Cars Posted March 30, 2007 My pug has just failed on bottom suspension arm and steering rack. I've priced up a recon rack and found a local motor factors for 45 quid. I've been told that the recon racks will only last a couple of years. Has anyone had any experience of this. If anyone lives in the York area I would be willing to pay for some help in fitting a recon rack. Cheers Mick.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted March 30, 2007 I got the rack on my CTi from GSF about 4 yr's ago but it doesn't do many miles but and it's never quite felt 100%, But after fitting a Recon Pug rack (To a couple of customers) you can tell the differance in the quality but the price is more than double. jonnie205 1 Posted March 30, 2007 Dont fit a recon rack just fit a good used on. All 205s use the same rack so just grab one off a base model, remeber pre88 cars have a different lower column so you will need correct rack for the age of your car
Mikey S 29 1 Cars Posted March 30, 2007 if its failed on inner rack joint play you can just replace those instead of doing the rack completely. there cheap from places like gsf etc.
welshpug 1,657 Posted March 30, 2007 i got a rack for my 205 3 years and 10k ago and its fine mine actually turned out to be brand new not reman
laser green 1.9 0 1 Cars Posted March 30, 2007 I've had the bellows off and can't see any play in the joints. If you wiggle the rack when it's in full lock you can see the rack moving in the housing. I guess that this is what the MOT guy is failing it on.
