Changing Bushes In Standard Rear Dampers

Recommended Posts

jackherer

The bushes in my rear dampers are shot, for the time being I've put on some Bilstein Streetlines that I had in the garage but they are absolutely rubbish. The weird handling issues caused by the knackered bushes are fixed but the Streetlines are too soft which has caused new issues such as no traction in first and second

I've looked on the parts CD and it looks like the bushes are available without having to buy new dampers but they look to have a collar on both sides so I can't see how they are fitted. Has anyone ever fitted them? I don't remember seeing any posts on the subject and searching hasn't found anything relevant.

The bushes are available seperately & they aren't to expensive.

I got some a few years ago for my old white diesel & managed to fit them in situ without removing the shock.

I've also managed to cut them out of some old base model shocks I had spare from beam rebuilds.

The lip is just rubber of the bush & they go in easy enough with a coat of washing up liquid on the lip to get them moving.

Graham.
