Starter Woe!

Recommended Posts

aldo56

im currently running a 1900 engine on a 1600 box with a 1900 flywheel. Im still using my 1600 starter but it makes a rather unpleasant grind/whine, do i need a 1900 starter? sounds like its not engaging correctly?

cheers

Its the sarter. It's probably just knackered. Replace it with a 16v starter and replace the wiring whilst your at it.

It is possible though that the starter is slightly out of alignment. There should be a guide sleeve around one of the bolts, if it's missing the starter can be mounted slightly wrong.

Also try running a wire straight from the battery postive to the starter solenoid and see if it engages then as it might be a wiring problem and that the solenoid is not getting enough juice......... if it is that could be the brown multiplug :o
