I wouldn't expect the full quota of horses from a 15/20 year old engine with more than a few miles under it's belt, unless your getting it rebuilt of course. Ryan 99 Posted March 27, 2007 Well, the iron block engine was quoted as 155bhp WITH a cat, so removing it would definitely add a few bhp to that. But then again it's often said that the alloy version gets a little more than 160bhp thanks to the 205s different exhaust. I don't have any hard figures for either, but what I was getting at is that it's unliekly anybody could tell the difference, as 5bhp more/less probably has less effect than the weight of the fuel in the tank anyway. Miles 331 1 Cars Posted March 27, 2007 Every one talks about the BHP but the torque is also better on the 2.0 plus it's a square config of 86x86, It's a newer engine so lessen's the need for a rebuild compared to any alloy one which will need one regardless is you want it to last any amount of time Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted March 27, 2007 I put an iron block into a 306 derv, it had done 118k and with a decat and green cotton induction made 133 at the wheels on reliable rollers.
