205turbo 32 2 Cars Posted March 25, 2007 there out of a rover , my mate has s pair in his mk1 Escort, Being that they are recaro's they will unbolt very easly if you need to retrim them
M@tt 77 Posted March 25, 2007 (edited) Yeah they were out a rover 620i i believe Well i've been to pick them up this evening and to boot i had to have a good old thrash across Snake Pass in the Mi16 which was very enjoyable, but a bit scary at times as i haven't been out on it in a while, and forgot how tight some of the corners were anyway heres a few more pics. The dirvers side is pretty knackered to be honest, but there is tonnes of leather on the backseats so should be able to get it retrimmed no bother. Felt a bit of a tight git only giving him £11 for an entire interior but nevermind Drivers side Close up Minty mint passenger seat Edited March 25, 2007 by M@tt
max0 5 Posted March 25, 2007 (edited) Felt a bit of a tight git only giving him £11 for an entire interior but nevermind Know how you mean, i got a bmx for £3.31 last week edit nice seats by the way Edited March 25, 2007 by max0
kyunis 0 Posted March 26, 2007 Amazing £11! Got mine off ebay £130! but were v.good condition. Have been fitted in and make a BIG difference! I believe there are off a rover vitesse turbo.
M@tt 77 Posted March 26, 2007 kyunis have you got any pics of how you fitted them? i havent looked at that yet. Did you use the 205 subframes or makes some sort of adapters ? Cheers
BERTMAN 40 1 Cars Posted March 26, 2007 i think youll find there off an 820 Vitesse Turbo, i want some in my Rover there well nice... lucky b***** gettin em for £11!!!
kyunis 0 Posted March 26, 2007 Ill take some pics today and try uploading them. I removed the rollers off the 205 seats and had them welded onto the recaro seats. Maybe not the best way, but was the easiest method. They are slightly higher then the standard seats. But move back and forth and tilt perfect!
johnnyboy666 195 1 Cars Posted March 26, 2007 you could do a bit of a switcheroo and use the passenger seat as the driver seat couldnt you? then it would be a little less noticable if you retrimmed the bugered one...? just a thought
M@tt 77 Posted March 26, 2007 yeah the switching would be an option but the drivers set has all the fancy lumber adjustments etc so i don't want to give those up I'm on the hunt for a cheap/good retrimmer in Sheffield now
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted March 27, 2007 I'm on the hunt for a cheap/good retrimmer in Sheffield now Not easy to find. I know of one though. A lad in the PSOOC's dad. A little slow though sometimes. To be honest would look for another set on ebay and make one good set as it will probably cost you about £80 to get that repaired!!! M@tt 77 Posted March 27, 2007 nah i'll get it cheaper than that you watch me
M@tt 77 Posted April 15, 2007 Well i made a bit of a start today on stripping the busted drivers seat ready for it to be retrimmed. Probably took and hour or so in total as some bits were a bit fiddly to do. With the covers finally off in all honesty it doesn't look like too much of a tricky job for some one with a decent sewing machine, might even have a word with my mum about borrowing hers as i was s*it hot in home economics in school i made an amazing cassette tape holder thingy on the sewing machine First job was to unbolt the back part of the seat. This was just a matter of removing the plastic surrounds round the bottom and undoing a couple of torx bolts. Then it was a case of unhooking the material from the bottom of the backrest and them removing the back padding the material was held in place by wires threaded through tabs in the material and then hooked onto the seat frame. it was a case of undoing/unhooking these. It will just be a case of replacing these 2 damaged l;eather panels with new ones using the old ones as templates to cut the new material from i'll update once/if i find someone to do it for me or if not how i get on DIYing
M@tt 77 Posted May 12, 2007 (edited) Just a bit of an update, i took my seat cover along to a local coach fitters this morning, the place has been there forever, run by a right old bloke but they do a top job. Quote to have the damaged panels replaced in materials £30!!! bargain!! get in!! Gonna pic up up in a week or so as i told him there's no rush and i think i'll have to wait till pay day anyway i'll post some pics when i get them back Edited May 12, 2007 by M@tt
M@tt 77 Posted May 25, 2007 (edited) bit of an update i picked up my seats from the retrimmers yesterday and then rebuilt the seat today. First though i had to repair the damaged sponge bolster I sculpted the additional piece of sponge with some scisoors (very topiary like ) and then superglued it firmly in place Jobs a goodun Edited May 25, 2007 by M@tt
mitch205gti 1 Posted May 26, 2007 Matt did they use the leather you supplied? Looks like a good job!
huckleberry 0 Posted May 26, 2007 If they're easy to find for a decent price then just get another mint passenger seat and put it in the drivers position. I don't think there's a difference bewteen left and right with Recaro's only the seat-subframes are different and they're only different because of the fitting of the seat belt. Then again, I used 2 passenger subframes to get my Recaro's in the 205 gti and it a perfect fit. Just needed to " remodel" one piece of the subframe slightly. Seat look great, they'll be a feast to sit in! Tim
rossi 0 Posted May 26, 2007 Well done you. I could do with something like that. Did they comewith subframes??
M@tt 77 Posted May 26, 2007 (edited) Mitch: Yeah the guy replaced the panels using the leather from one of the rear bolsters that i gave him and i used some of the foam from that to make the missing part. Huckleberry: The 2 seats are slightly different in that the drivers one has sdjustable lumbar supports via 2 windey handles on the side Rossi: Yes they came with their original subframes but i bought some 205 subframes off Trav from here intending to use them instead. However we found today that the original subframes are exactly the same width as the 205 ones so we just ground off some of the rover mounting lugs on them and drilled some new holes for the bolts to go through. and they fit like a charm Only thing is they dont have a forward tipping mechanism but i'm not bothered as i never have rear passengers So that means i've got a spare set of mint 205 subframes if anyone wants them Edited May 26, 2007 by M@tt

t16ryan 1 Posted May 28, 2007 This is what they look like in the 205 they are good but even when in lowest position you sit a little higher than normal, but nice and comfy
