Baz 421 Posted March 25, 2007 Yup XR2 ones i have heard of, also Rallyman uses Lotus Sunbeam 13" wheels, and they look uber cool!
paulh 0 Posted March 25, 2007 (edited) Yes, AX one's do fit - see piccy. Used these to lower the gearing down a bit, also back in 1991 there were far more 13" tyres kicking around!!! (This was a 1600 by the way). Edited March 25, 2007 by paulh
GazRallye 0 Posted March 25, 2007 wicked, nice pic as well. so they fit over 1.6 gti brakes then?
paulh 0 Posted March 26, 2007 so they fit over 1.6 gti brakes then? I had 1.6 on the front then swopped to a 1.9 beam on the back and they fitted ok.
VisaGTi16v 1 Posted March 26, 2007 PaulH, those look like Visa GTi alloys and not AX GT 4 studs. The AX ones have a smaller gap between the spokes (if you can call them that). Same diameter etc though. Heres my car with Visa GTi alloys http://www.visagti.com/pics/sprint/post-1-...7-0558_23B2.jpg and with XR2 alloys http://www.visagti.com/pics/sprint/Borough...06_SJC_1545.jpg The car has standard 1.6 205 front brakes, ie 247mm discs, fit fine, should be ok with AX alloys as well. I have to run spacers with the XR2 wheels as a different offset, 10mm rear, 6mm front and this may be different for a 205. Also you will need different bolts as they use tapered ones not flat washer style like with citroens/peugeots. XR2 ones are half an inch wider than Visa ones, not sure on AX size, probably same as Visa (which is 5J I think and XR2 are 5.5J)

You could be right it was a long time ago I'm sure my mate said they were AX wheels though. Thinking back about this today at work I reckon we had to use some thin wheel spacers - can't remember if they were on the front or back though. I'm sure they were no thicker than 1/8 inch. Seem to recollect they were a pain to fit swopping wheels over ie. lining up the wheel bolt holes with the bolts and the spacer not lining up if you get what I'm saying. We couldn't afford stud conversions in them days
