Longman To Jenvey Inlet Manifold Comparison

Recommended Posts

Gtiracer

After having bought my throttle bodies i need to change the inlet manifold from the 8v one i have and get a 16v, now everyone seems to rave about the longman inlet manifold for the Mi but i have found on pugspares to be about £50 more expensive. is it worth it and if yes, why?

Please can someone tell me if there is a purpose for them being seperated as well?

Pictures for their standard Mi inlet manifold:

pictures of the longman manifold (2 seperate pieces):

My boss has also recently bought a Jenvey inlet manifold for throttle bodies on his Mk2 escort and the ports are mis-matched on the manifold and needed to be messed around with, cutting away metal on parts and adding metal on others - are all of them like this?

My Jenveys barely had a mismatch at all, maybe just 0.5mm or something, my enginebuilder said the manifold was so good cast he did only minor work on it, compared to some other Volvo manifolds he were used to and spent hours on...

So I would go Jenvey...

My longman inlet was a very good match asweel plus having them seperated makes it easier to work on and it has the lugs to drill and tap a hole for the vacum pipe.

The 2 piece Jenvy/Longman inlet isn;t available any more unless it's old stock, the new one is one piece, I'll be able to tell you the design when I order a couple for stock.

http://www.jenvey.co.uk/ and look under the inlet manifold's

The jenvey one is bar far the best quality inlet you can buy, As you have a 8v I guess a Mang.... are just c**p

The Jenvey's come in one Peice now. The fit is very good on these.

I usually Tig a couple of vacuum take off's on the underside of the manifold as it makes it look neater when in the car.

Having take off on 2 runners removes some of the pulsing that can be felt through the brake pedal when idling.

Its not a major problem, I just found it irritating on mine!

I've got a couple of manifold on the shelf if you need one.

I'd bet large sums of money on them being made in two parts in the past because it's cheaper to have them made that way :)
