Cv Joint Knackered? Am I Right?

Recommended Posts

Moys1.9

Driving home yesterday and a tciking started coming from the front drivers side wheel. Kept stopping and having a look thinking, maybe a stone (got the conti's with big grooves so attracts huge stones) or something caught in the whhel but couldn't see anything. It seemed to only hapen under acceleration and stopped under de-cceleration. Over the next 2 miles this got alot worse and near home started pulling the wheel quite hard to the right.

Had a look using search and saw some similar problems people had with similar symptoms and the word driveshaft was very common.

Today in good light got under the car and saw the CV boot for the inner joint had slid off (no clip on it) and there wasn't much grease left either. Packed it full of CV grease today and re secured the boot. Took it out for a short drive and problem wasn't quite as pronounced but was definaltly still there.

What should I do next???? I must mention money is an issue at the moment :)

cheers

you may be able to replace the joint alone, have a quick search on ebay as i've seen some recently but it depends what they have in stock and also your application.
