Noisy Distributor On Mi16

Recommended Posts

Guest kernowboy

Hi folks

I have recently just completed an Mi16 converion on me 1.9 GTi. The car is running totally fine but there is a real bad clanking noise coming from the distirbutor. Any ideas?

Cheers

If it runs fine, that's really strange, but I've had a rotor arm work loose. Alternatively and slightly worse, the arm could be well fitted but it screws to a metal foot which is torx bolted in (with a thread lock compound usually), which could have worked loose too/instead.

Sorry to state the obvious but have you checked that and also that there's nothing inside the cap that shouldn't be. Simply can't think of anything else.

Good luck - and please post your findings, if any.

Rich :)

Yeah im running the latter but i was running another dizzy and it didnt make any noise at all but it kept cutting out randomly so i changed distributor to this one and it runs fine but makes a clanking noise. i had a look at it yesturday and nothing was lose. it sounds like the weights tbh think i might try and get another distributor and try that!
