406 23.8mm Mc Confirmation

Recommended Posts

Normski

After buying and fitting a 406 MC to my 205 fitted with GTi-6 front brakes. I'm unhappy with the brake pedal feel. It feels just like the original 205 MC which is making me think I could have been supplied the wrong part.

So if you have bought a 23.8mm 406 MC (part number BMC4816) from Brakeparts, could you have a look at what it says on the side of it? Mine has 3A. Is this right?

Cheers.

Mine is part number BMC5134 from brakeparts although it was bought in 2005. Brake peddle travel is definiitely less than standard.

Normski i have just come across my receipt from brakeparts (brakes international)

when i bought my master cylinder back in 11/04 i got a BMC4816 and there is definately a noticable difference between this one and standard one i had before it.

i forgot all about looking on the one on my car for the 3A sorry :P

i am hopefully going down to garage where the car is holed up at some point tomorrow, i will have a look then

Martin W i have just checked the brake parts website and it lists BMC5134 for post 98 406's. i have always been lead to believe these later one would not fit properly, your saying yours fits fine with no issues etc?

interesting :)

thanks

Thats what is written on the invoice and mine has been fine for nearly 3 years. Fitted with no problems by my mechanic, and he would have noticed if there were any problems (I watched him do it too!).

I cant comment on any other master cylinders as this os the only one I have bought from brakeparts.
