Rattly Downpipe On Mi16

Recommended Posts

hello, was just wondering if anyone has had problems with the standard 205 gti downpipe cut to fit the mi16 manifold?

I have a really annoying rattle that sounds like the heat shield hitting the exhaust but it isnt, recon it may be the downpipe rattling after i have cut and shut it?

or has any one heard of the mi16 engine killing a gti Magnex systems baffling?

cheers people....

My 1.9 engine has blown the centre baffle lose in my magnex system. The exhaust now makes a hollow rattle at tickover, almost like the sound of a blowing exhaust. Strangely, at high revs the car now sounds the absolute nuts.

Ive heard that its fairly common for the baffles to loosen in the magnex systems.

rubbish Magnex exhausts, the car sounds horrible and when you drop a gear it sounds even worse like all the exhaust heat shields are hitting the exhaust at once. Think i may go for a standard system with a nice back box.

Wierd thing is i have taken the whole exhaust off and there is no rattling wot so ever???

cheers for the help......

Have you checked the springs which clamp the downpipe to the manifold are properly tensioned? Someone I know had a problem where one of the springs on the manifold became loose and was ratttling around.
