TEKNOPUG 3 Posted March 19, 2007 Ive had a slow puncture for months nothing too serious, just loses a few psi a month. Over the last month it has got much worse so much so that it runs flat after a couple of days just being parked. I presume that the valve is fubar can this be replaced separately? I want to keep the tyre as it very good and has lots of tread left (Michelin Pilot Exalto 2). Would it be easier to swap the tyre with another rim (I have a pair of wheels with shonky Roadstar tyres on)?
Grim.Badger 15 Posted March 19, 2007 Tyre places should be able to replace the valve for about £2. It might be worth getting them to inspect the tyre whilst its off as you may have a small nail in it that cant be seen from outside but sticks out on the inside, again that would be cheap and easy to fix. Most likely the valve though.
GazRallye 0 Posted March 20, 2007 If it s not the valve get the tyre fitter to take the tyre off and re-seal it on the rim, they did mine for nowt when i had the same problem, but i do know the chap! Apparently alloys are more susceptible to it than steelies, can't remember why tho
Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted March 20, 2007 most tyre fitters have a water tank anyway to put the wheel in and check where the airs coming from.

Apparently alloys are more susceptible to it than steelies, can't remember why tho The alloy gets porous(sp?) over time. Hence why you start to lose pressure.
