266mm Brake Disc And Pad Recommended Spec

Recommended Posts

Henry Yorke

I have had a search on the forum and from what I have read, people tend to like ATE grooved discs from Eurocarparts (@ £20.60 + VAT - PSOOC discount). Are there any other available recommendations to run on my 307 1.4 266mm set up?

Also when it comes to pads, I have standard Peugeot ones in which don't need changing yet, but would running 1144's or DS2500's make a reasonable difference? The car is mainly fast road with the odd track

My CTI is running these at the front and a disc rear beam, but with the 3 way standard master cylinder and the rears T'd off from the single line. I still have the 1.6 compensator in the front and use DOT 5.1 fluid.

At Cadwell I cooked the brakes (which led to my off and I now have have warped discs!!!) and I get the impression that the rears are not really doing much. Pedal feel is fine with the standard master cylinder, though I have a 4 way 406 one in the garage but am worried this may give too sharp brakes. Has anyone with 266mm also upgraded the master cylinder?

I didn't think they did ATE powerdiscs for the 34mm height discs?

1144's made a big difference to both my 247 + 266 setups, I haven't got 1144's to fade yet, even on my lardy 306, left m/c as standard 20.6mm as I only have about 20mm of pedal travel anyway

Just checked & they don't list them for the 307 1.4 but the same discs are listed as used on several other PSA models & they don't appear to make a Powerdisc for your set up.

I've just bought some 266mm ATE for the 306 set up, I'll have a look on brakeworld klater & see what the difference in disc height etc is.

Graham.

Think normal one is 28mm, 307's are 34mm, hence they have a bit more spoke>caliper clearance.

Looks like standard discs then but better pads. I may as well get genuine Peugeot discs as they are not usually that expensive

I ordered grooved ATE powerdisc 266x20.5mm, 306S16 item.

Have positive experience with Ferodo Premier pads + Ferodo 5.1 brake oil on standard 266mm discs.

This combo should kick for road use, IMHO will suit 205Mi well.

dunno if this will help but ferrodo do a DS2500 pad for the 287mm 307 disc, and also i believe the 266mm disc will find the part number for you if i can.

they were a touch pricey though..

So a 307 runs the same pad, whatever the disc size? The calipers themselvers are different as I have measured them with my 307 HDI, see previous topic 58121 (my copy and paste won't work currently  )

Further looking in Euro Car Parts and Brake Part show the 307 1.4 runs the same discs as the Citroen C2 GT so you must be able to get uprated discs A quick trawl of ebay found a few sets by the likes of Black Diamond etc

Sounds like I can have Bremsport discs with DS2500 pads then :D Can anyone who knows a lot more than me let me know if I have got this mixed up somewhere? A quick look on the C2 Sport Club revealed they went for the nicest looking as opposed to what actually was the most effective!

My GTI is with 3 way standard master cylinder and I think to change the rear beam with disks and front disks and calipers 266mm.With the 1.6 compensator may I have a problem ?

No I don't think you will have a problem. I just brake too hard!!

I have found these click here for ebay link

I would like to avoid drilled discs though as they may crack, especially with my heavy left foot!!!!

The 2500's should give you 15-20% more braking power everywhere than those OMP ones, and won't fade so early either.

Just stick to normal discs :D

I have my finger hovering over the buy button for ebay item 270103212176 - this is definitely the right kind of disc & pad? I haven't sourced calipers and yokes yet. Are all the calipers for 266mm discs equal?

Super Josh

Drilled discs are s*ite and will always crack eventually. Unless they have the holes cast in them, like the O.E. Porsche ones. Just use good quality plain discs, like the Brembo ones from places like GSF.

what do you mean? The pedal is to heavy or the way to go down is too long?
