eob 7 Posted March 18, 2007 Sigh.... I picked up a set of delivery miles calipers & discs from a crash '99 Xsara a few years ago in a scrapyard, and had them successfully fitted to my 205 XS. They really are fantastic, apart from the pedal travel, so I picked up a big 406 master cylinder and set about fitting the same set-up to my 205 GTi and I'm a bit confused. They fit if I use the original 205 GTi brake disc but I'm not convinced they'll actually work (ie. the discs are bolted on and the calipers are over them, but... I'm not convinced that the 'slider' on the brake caliper is in the right place). I'm getting very, very disheartened with my car so any advice or help would be greatly, greatly appreciated. I really don't want to fit 1.9 hubs as the driveshafts and bearings are brand spanking new in this one. Gutted. Eamonn
welshpug 1,657 Posted March 18, 2007 the 1.6 hub has a different offset to the TU and 1.9, which uses the same offset as ZX Xsara and 306 (and 106, saxo and even the 405 IIRC) so they wont fit
eob 7 Posted March 18, 2007 (edited) Ok, so before I go out to the shed and cap myself, my options are: 1. Fit 1.9 hubs 2. Fit Tu hubs I really, really don't want to fit 1.9 hubs as it means a lot of searching and postage and all that bullsh!t so am I right in saying that hubs off a standard 1.4 XS/1.1 Junior will fit and take the 1.6 driveshafts, balljoints etc? Bit curious about the offset mind you? Will using base-model hubs give me a narrower front track? Edited March 18, 2007 by eob

eob 7 Posted March 18, 2007 (edited) So in a nutshell, start rooting for a decent set of TU (base model) hubs somewhere in your shed? I know the driveshafts fit because I have, ahem, fitted my, ahem, GTi with an XS driveshaft I had lying around On a side note, I hate my car and I want to die.
