M_R_205 5 1 Cars Posted March 18, 2007 basicaly im after the quietest exhaust around on a budget, on my old 8valve (with carbs) i ran a std one and it was still rather loud when the revs picked up, now iv got a mi16 on carbs im guessing its going to be louder, what im thinking is buying a seccond back box and welding it in where the middle box is as i recall someone saying its an empty box with no sound deadening???????? does anyone think this will work or any one have any better ideas, im on a canny tight budget so a custom job is out the window for the moment cheers Paul
nick 3 Posted March 18, 2007 The induction noise on carbs will be louder than the exhaust. Nick
Richie-Van-GTi 74 2 Cars Posted March 18, 2007 as above, your carbs will be the big factor. I have a magnex 2.5 back box on 2 inch standard centre and magnex 4 branch mani. I cant hear that over the carbs on an 8v

Adnic69 0 Posted March 19, 2007 Quietest exhaust is probably Jetex, I have one and love it as there is NO motorway booming and is very quiet unless at full chat. To reduce the carb noise you could get a sealed filter box to cover the trumpets. Can't think exactly what there called.
