Removing The Tailgate Trim

Is there a way to remove the tailgate trim without damaging the clips? If i rember correctly its supposed to slide to some side buth can't quite remember wich side.

Do you mean the plastic 'grille' on the rear?

 

If so, the clips just slide to the side and come out. It should be fairly clear once you take the badges off to get at them.

*remove badges

 

*scrape mud/dirt from metal clips and push a screwdriver to slide them out

 

*then slide the panel down using a screwdriver/ lever bar to lever the panel over the top of the rear lock, beng careful not to damage paint work :P

 

*job done

As above, you can also remove the rear lock from inside the tailgate.

hmm no i mean the one on the inside that covers the wiper motor.

large flat blade screwdriver and lever carefully by each plastic rivet thingy, then replace all of them as they break :P

ow ..... da**n ... the good thing to say is that this was actually removed from a scrapped 205 by a friend a few weeks ago and handed it to me with no broken clips!!! I think ill be giving him a ring and ask him to pull it out 4 me :rolleyes:

I have a set of plastic tools similar to this for removing that type of clip without breaking, plus a selection of metal ones like the ones further down:

I rarely break any clips :)

You put me to shame, I just use the biggest screwdriver I can lay my hands on and force it until it snaps ^_^:D
