DrSarty 90 1 Cars Posted March 18, 2007 'ringing' makes this very hard to understand. IF it were a whistling, then that could be down to an air leak in the inlet system which perhaps closes as metal warms up, expands and seals. Really I'm asking if it could be a whistling which would be air or a 'ringing' like you say which would most likely be mechanical such as the alternator blades perhaps brushing against something. Probably best you try and highlight where in the engine bay (or elsewhere) it's coming from, eg as facing front of car top left, which may indicate a whistle from the brake servo. Catch my drift? smckeown 1 Posted March 18, 2007 have you lost your phone recently ? Seriously, where do you think the noise is eminating from ? head, bottom, near side, off side ? Ringing isn't something you normally associate with an engine, have you described it well ?
Andrwn8304 0 Posted March 18, 2007 An old trick you could try for locating it is get a old spray bottle fill it with water or WD40 and spray different moving parts ie water pump and fan belt when it dissappears you found it.
