Guest ldryden205 Posted March 16, 2007 I have a 1.9 gti with the be1 gearbox the box wont engage 3rd when its warmed up and grinds when i try to engage reverse and 2nd has just started to get stiff. can anyone help? can the box be fixed or should i just change it? chownr 0 Posted March 16, 2007 Ditto - Change the Oil first and see if that makes any difference. A friend bought a 309 for road rallying. On the fiirst event the box steadily deteriorated to the point where he was having to hold it in gear to stop it jumping out. he thouight the boix was completely shot but a change of oil after the event solved it completely Rich Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
brianthemagical 1 Posted March 16, 2007 after that check the linkages. then make sure all bolts are tight, inc subframe bolts, then engine mounts. if they are worn too much the engine can move excessively. failing all the above, get a new box. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
