Looking For Someone To Build My Mi16 Rally Engine

Recommended Posts

Chris H

Right...i need to find someone to build my mi16 engine for me.

What i have at the moment is my old engine which had siezed due to no oil pressure (filter came loose) but did run when i removed it.

I also have a spare crank, rods and pistons from my mates engine.

I have an un run SP Performance big valve head

and from the old engine i have a set of Piper BP285M Cams 292 duration, Vernier Pulleys and a set of chrome topped mechanical followers. This was running with a Longmans manifold with 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies using Omex Engine Management

I also have a Maniflow 4-2-1 exhaust Manifold to fit.

Basically im looking for someone to build up the engine without ancileries. I could do the work but i just don't have the space so its either build the car in the garage or the engine! Plan to use the existing block with whichever crank rods and pistons seem the best and get this lightened and ballanced.

Then put the SP head on wth the cams and followers form the old engine and match the manifolds to suit the head. Add a set of rod bolts and a lightened flywheel and i'm hoping to have a 200 bhp and 8000rpm as safe targets.

Any suggestions on other mods? Should i be using an uprated head gasket?

Can you suggest anyone that might want to do the work for sensible money?

Thanks in advance and feel free to point out anything stupid that might be doing!

Is that banbury in Essex?

We're in Cambridge and have built 200bhp+ Mi16's before, we mostly do full race stuff but can cater for whatever you need.

Speak to Giles Groombridge on 01954 252252 or for the more technical side ask for Dave (my father) on the same number.

Price wise we have a very reasonable hourly rate.

Thanks

Wayne

Spoox Motorsport in Enderby (Leicester) have built me an Mi16 over the winter and Ive been very impressed so far. Havent had it on the rollers yet but we pushed Kevin Proctor close in his exige at Manby earlier in the year. Their attention to detail is second to none and competitively priced too. Give Darren or Ben a call for more info on 0116 275 1414
