Can you file it down to two flats (one on each side) and use a narrower (6mm?) spanner to unscrew it?

Best soak in WD40 for a while first.

tap on the brake hose union spanner? (bout £2.50 from the tool shop, and has 6 sides and a slot, rather than the 12 sides of most ring spanners which usually slip)

Easiest solution- big pair of adjustable grips with decent teeth. Squeeze hard enough and turn in the right direction (make sure you have the grips the correct way round so the teeth are digging in), and the grips should dig into the soft bleed screw and crack it open. Make sure you squeeze bloody hard though...

Yeah as Dan said, just be careful how you pull it or snap!

I'd try hammering on a long reach socket 7mm (6 sided) first, I've done this successfully. Then if that doesn't work the mole grips should shift it. Get a new one to replace it, M7 x 1mm.

I managed to do this by filing down the edges to make a size one below then the spanner size. I then hammered on a hex socket and off it came. I could even use the nipple agin

Get some plusgas on it - hammer a smaller (or imperial equiv.) spanner/socket on - then tap the spanner with a dead blow hammer to shock it loose.
