Magnex Exhaust Fouling Gear Selecter Rod

Recommended Posts

pip470

Just bought a full magnex system and the manifold is touching and also knocking when engine is running on the thicker of the two gear selecter rods. Its worse when i put it in to reverse. I cant think how to get around this problem as the manifold positioning cant be adjusted. Is this the reason why some people have changed the lower mount to a stiffer one. Any body had this problem any help much appreciated. Cheers phill

Simes

That's the reason it's sold with their own lower mount.....just use a group N or baker one.

If someone has time will they post a picture of how close the rod is to there manifold as mine is virtually touching it. I know the mount will reduce the engine movement, and that will stop the knocking but does other peoples rod actually touch the manifold in reverse. If i can forward a pic to someones email then maybe they could post my picture of just how close it is. Cheers phill

Ive just put a new exhaust on mine today, I have about a half inch max between the mani and the selector under the car. There's bags of space in the engine bay though around the mani and the selector rods.

mines knocking the heatshield a bit under the car and thats with group N lower mount and a TD top mount.

If you have a shortened L bracket type quickshift fitted this will close the gap a little underneath.
