fencer 0 Posted March 13, 2007 My 205 did not come with a rear wiper etc so i fitted them. I got the washers bottle from a scrap yard which apparently was lying there for years but since it looked quite in good condition I bought it. Back on the Car I installed the bottle but soon after (the next day) I found out it was leaking from the rubber between the pump and the bottle and also from a hole in the pump which apparently is made for some reason by the factory. I tried repairing it using silicone but still did not help so I went back to the scrap yard to get another one but the only one I found was repaired as it apparently was leaking from the same places! Any ideas what should I do?
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted March 13, 2007 Isn't the hole in the pump for the pipe that goes to the spray nozzle to wash the screen? The rubber seal is the same as the front washer bottle one afaik so you should be able to find a good one. Graham.
Edp 67 3 Cars Posted March 13, 2007 As graham said. Both washer bottles have identical pumps so the rubber grommet should be the same. Are you certain you put the hose (to the nozzle) on the pump as it would spray out everywhere when you activate the rear washer?!
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted March 13, 2007 Without the hose on the pump the reservoir still drains even when the pump's not running. Graham.
fencer 0 Posted March 14, 2007 (edited) thanks 4 the tip! but the whole is not the one to connect the pump hose to it its about in the centre of the pump, ill try and take/find a picture of it. Edited March 14, 2007 by fencer
yorkshirekowboy 19 1 Cars Posted March 15, 2007 thanks 4 the tip! but the whole is not the one to connect the pump hose to it its about in the centre of the pump, ill try and take/find a picture of it. yeah i had trouble all the time with my rear washer pump, it always seizes, so i always give it a bash with a hammer, and i did notice a pin hole sized hole in the centre section of the pump so i when i put a current through the pump and made it spin, a little bubble and air came out of it, but no water so i think it maybe a breather hole, could be wrong thou maybe another pointless thing pug designed
