djinuk 2 Posted March 13, 2007 I have a F reg 205 xs, it needs new pads and disks due to previous owner but im thinking it might be a ideal time for a brake upgrade, can some of you give me some suggestions and prices and also roughly whats involved in fitting them. thanks
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted March 13, 2007 This has all been covered before mate, try doing a search 1.9 disks with 1.6 calipers is the common one.

taylorspug 7 Posted March 13, 2007 Full 1.9 setup, disks and calipers will fit, had this on my old xs, couldnt fault it for a light car such as that, always worked really well. Plus there are plenty of disk and pad options open to you. It is also very well balanced with the standard xs drums. I later fitted the 1.9 rear disks and calipers to mine and tbh it made the whole thing worse, rear end was well over-braked and would lock up under heavy breaking, plus the handbrake was terrible so couldnt handbrake turn around tight hairpins anymore. Casanova 0 Posted March 22, 2007 I have been reading the old topics and will also be looking for a bigger brake set-up for my F-reg XS. The question I have is what is the yolk/yoke that keeps getting mentioned?! §
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted March 22, 2007 See the above picture. Its the part that mounts to the hub & the caliper fits on to. Graham.
Casanova 0 Posted March 22, 2007 Ah, so that's why it didn't make sense. Don't think the XS setup has one of those - the caliper just bolts through holes in the hub carrier off the top of my head. That makes sense now, I will shop for some brakes Thank you §
