Anyone Know What This Evil Sounding Noise Is?

Movie should open with quicktime.

Basically the car was bought last march needing a new head gasket, and it' been sat ith mayo in it since. the head was rebuilt, reshimmed and skimmed flat again (took 25thou just to clean apparently, but it's ok now). it was fitted and tightened properly a few months ago also, but only recently have I finished the reconnecting job and tried to start it up. the belts & tensioner were replaced, though the tensioner didn't seem to be doing that much (maybe the effective length of the belt was shortened enough by the head being skimmed to reduce the tensioners effectiveness) so I think we put a little hand force in when we tightened it up, but I can't remember whether or not we changed our minds about that at a later date or not. The water pump probably needs replacing, but for some reason I completely didn't think of that.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what this could be?

yeah the header is full. manually pumped some water through by squeezing the top hose and heard some air coming through and into the header, but that stopped happening and I topped it up.

all fixed. it was teh waterpump, which was.... shafted to say the least. there was a big piece of metal in the bottom of where teh pump sits in the block. dunno if that's just a deposit build up ot something else.
