mitch205gti 1 Posted March 4, 2007 Hi, After leaving my car sat in the garage for a little over 3 years I decided I'd get it back on the road after we moved premises at work and I couldn't walk any more if the other half needed the car. After changing the beam, callipers etc, etc I'm almost ready to get it MOT'd but its running like a bag of spanners. I think the AFM may not be working, so was wondering if there is anyone in the Sheffield area with a 1.6 that wouldnt mind popping round so I can try there AFM on my to see if that cures the problems, or if there is any GTI gurus out there that would be able to pop round and take a butchers at it. Stella (mmmm Stella) would show my appreciation. Thanks Mitch

boombang 2 Posted March 5, 2007 The Haynes manual does give test procedures for most of the ignition and fuel system. May be worth running through and you might find something unplugged (I have before!).

mitch205gti 1 Posted March 10, 2007 After fitting the AFM from Matt (cheers Matt) and cleaning the throttle housing out the car now runs a lot better and now even idles quite well. So fingers crossed it will be back on the road soon.
