1.9 Gti Braking Problems

Recommended Posts

Guest twinbridge01

I have recently fully overhauled the braking system on my 1991 1.9 gti, the following have been renewed/overhauled.

All solid brake pipes renewed.

All flexibles renewed with braided

All calipers overhauled

New master cylinder

New handbrake cables

I have bled the brakes a few times and as far as I can see thier is no air in the system, hower thier is very little braking force and the pedal feels a bit spongey. When you hit the brakes hard thier is a little bit of braking but it then dies off. Anyone got any suggestions??

Have you bled the master cylinder alone or just the individual lines from each caliper?

You can get an airlock in new m/c's & have to bleed it by loosening the pipe nipples into the m/c.

Possible but not a certainty.

Graham.

Was there a good amount of fluid coming out each caliper when bleeding, you cracked the pipes off the MC and made sure fluid is coming out??
