petesy71 0 Posted March 3, 2007 hi. as it was a nice afternoon i thought i,d give my engine a bit of a spring clean. i bought a can of carb cleaner from halfords and set about cleaning the oil breather pipes. i removed the filter and afm and also gave them a good clean. then i decided to clean the throttle body,so with engine running i started opening the throttle and spraying short bursts inside. it was then that an elastic band whitch i hadnt noticed sprang from the can and was sucked into the throttle body, dispearing inside. it was a few seconds before i got the car switched off. so i'm wondering what if any damage will this cause and whats the best way to retrieve it? thanks, pete. After a few days tying to retreive this i cut my loses an turned it over ran like a dream felt kinda lucky, but your only talking bout a laccy band which in comparison is really soft. Richie-Van-GTi 74 2 Cars Posted March 4, 2007 you could whip the plenum olff and check its not nestled in there or stuck round a valve. If its not then its probably already burnt in them few seconds and the best action would be to give the car a good blast and make sure all the debris gets blown out. Ahl 4 Posted March 4, 2007 The manifold is only 5 nuts or so, quite easy when you look at it. You'll need to get a new gasket or gasket material though. I'd use RTV. You could also whip out the spark plugs and have a look down there with a wee torch.
