Grim.Badger 15 Posted February 28, 2007 This seems to be one of those jobs that is so simple no-one feels the need to explain it. Unfortunately I'm very simple too I need to detach the gear linkages from the gearbox and I presume you just pull the linkages off the balljoint things, or whatever they are; however they don't seem to want to budge and I don't want to damage them. They are the last thing to remove, other than the gearbox and clutch, before I take the engine out so I'm fairly frustrated by them

nick 3 Posted February 28, 2007 Lever them off with an open ended spanner, I think 12 or 13mm fits. Nick

GLPoomobile 958 Posted February 28, 2007 Don't worry GB, I had the same problem soon after I got back into 205s. Couldn't get a long screwdriver in the right position to lever it up. Dr Seuss came over and got it off in about 2 seconds! Stupid me, I just needed to move the speedo cable to one side to get the screwdriver in and I would've had enough room to lever the bugger. lagonda 42 Posted March 1, 2007 Open ended spanner worked for me ... but make sure you use one that will pass over the ball. I thought using a small spanner would be better, but ended up slightly gouging the bearing surface of the ball. Easy enough to filke it smooth, but if overlooked would damage the cup.
