Gti Ride Height Vs Xs Ride Height

Recommended Posts

how much lower is a gti rear beam in comparison to an xs rear beam? and how much would i have to lower the front to get a level ride if i put a gti beam on my xs, all the lowering springs i can find are for gti's so i'm assuming the will make a base model a lot lower because of the engine weight difference so how low would -25mm springs take me? the other option is -40mm springs and the beam lowered 1 notch? and what about a 309 rear beam- possible on a base model on speedlines or not and if it is possible what is the ride height like?

thanks for reading yet another suspension question :)

exept gti 420 to 434mm ride height, gti 403 to 417mm (from haynes workshop manual.

shock bolt centre dimensions are specified as non gti 340mm, gti 330mm, so about 30mm difference.

Not sure of the ride height off the top of my head. With GTI lowering springs it will sit higher as the engine weighs less.

Don't think you'd get away with a 309 beam without cutting the arches?

If you get whatever springs you want you can adjust the rear to match it by removing the torsion bars rather than just pulling the trailing arm off. (Ok it's easier said than done if it's never been apart. :))
