matt-k 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Hi all, just finished removing my valves and thought i'd be able to just pop the stem seals straight off! But no, ive had a go at pulling one off with a pair of long nose pliars but the bugger wont budge! I cant think of another way of removing them so i thought i'd just ask everyone on here before i go and have another go with a new set of pliars and some serious force! So is there another way or should i just pull like Girls Aloud just walked in my room!
nick 3 Posted February 28, 2007 I chiselled mine off (down the side where the metal collar is) but you need to very careful not to hit the top of the guide. Someone else (I think Dave Baker) said to use a blow torch on them (gently) I imagine it melts the rubber inside so they just slip off. Nick
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted February 28, 2007 Get some stem seal remover pliers, they're cheap and make the job so much easier and you dont damage the valve guide. Like this. http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/Valve-Stem-Se...category=204500
