kenan 0 Posted February 27, 2007 My gear changes haven't been happy for a while, difficult to get into gear going up through the box. The gearbox was reconditioned by miles about 2 years ago and a new clutch was fitted at the time. I have also replaced all the gear rods. Can anyone advise what the problem might be? brianthemagical 1 Posted February 27, 2007 either the clutch or linkage rods are ill adjusted for some reason, poss an engine mount. or the teeth on the dog rings that guide the gear selection device into position are worn and not giving as positive a location as they once were, i.e. knackered. i'm not saying it's anything to do with miles, far from as the things i'm on about aren't always replaced indefinatly. Miles 331 1 Cars Posted February 27, 2007 Might be worth giving the box a oil change, this can help quite often, engine mount's should be fine as you have if I remember a BBM lower mount so this won;t give any problems.

Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted February 28, 2007 use total bv on pug boxes, Ive tried various others and none of them provided a smooth change. Pug sell total in 1 litre bottles for around £4 IIRC.
