Jrod 7 Posted February 27, 2007 Firstly ignore the wheels and tyres as they are being changed. I've raised the rear up but maybe a bit to much. What do you think?
Jrod 7 Posted February 27, 2007 Also is it 3mm between shock mountings is 1mm ride height?
chownr 0 Posted February 27, 2007 No its the other way round. 1mm change in shock length = approx 3mm change in ride height. On my rally car I set a dummy shock length of approx 310mm (centre of bolt to centre of bolt) for tarmac and 315mm when Im on gravel. This changes the ride height by about 15mm Hope this helps Rich
Jrod 7 Posted February 27, 2007 Glad I asked before I started playing about! I now have a broken (well it feels it) hand but a nice magnex backbox.
s16 Peggy 0 Posted February 27, 2007 Hi, Can I ask, have you done the adjustment yourself, or have you taken it somewhere to be done? Cheers
Jrod 7 Posted February 27, 2007 I've done it myself. It's an easy job to do as long as it's not siezed.
Jrod 7 Posted February 27, 2007 Come on people I want some opinions. Is the rear ride height ok in comparison to the front?
luggy 13 Posted February 27, 2007 What does the car handle like on A and B road blasts? Ive put mine back to standard front and rear and it handles well, if your happy with it who gives a s*it what other people think!
taylorspug 7 Posted February 27, 2007 Looks fine to me, not too low and its always good to have a little bit of rake in the ride height (nose pointing down), this improves things no end on a 205, reducing its tendancy to understeer. What sort of angle are your wishbones/TCAs at?
Jrod 7 Posted February 27, 2007 It oversteers a bit (well on wet roundabouts ) not had a chance to really take it for a good drive as it's not tax'd or mot'd yet. I'm not sure what angle the wishbones are at but it was mainly the rear I was worried about.
taylorspug 7 Posted February 27, 2007 Well the rear is a good height in relation to the front id say, so get some MOT and go enjoy it!
Jrod 7 Posted February 27, 2007 Just need some decent wheels and to fit some brembos. (along with the 100's of little jobs that I need to do.) (Anyone got some 15x8's? )
Pugnut 9 1 Cars Posted February 27, 2007 iirc the front and rear jacking points on the sill should be the same height from the ground . so you can measure no problem. as stated i always preferred mine nose down a bit . made it a bit scary at speed , but turn in was awesome and LOO was immense. ps , that arches remind me of a mk2 xr2 ! (in a good way. i owned 2 in my youth)
GLPoomobile 958 Posted February 28, 2007 I've always loved those Massey Fergusons Oh s*it, sorry, that's your 205 Ride height looks fine, although I prefer lower cos I'm a cheap tart . Just that the black arches really exagerate the clearance, which I'm sure has been mentioned in the past and I'm sure you couldn't give two s*its about it
steve@cornwall 100 Posted February 28, 2007 looks fine- now go and paint your under-arches black
Jrod 7 Posted March 1, 2007 Just a quickie, now i've used the dummy shocks to make sure both sides are the same the arb plate doesn't line up. I moved the trailing arm to line it up but when I measure from the arch to the hub one side is now a few mm diff to the other. It was identical before I fitted the arb so will it still be level when I put it down?
taylorspug 7 Posted March 1, 2007 No, the ARBs never line up properly, they always have a little bit of preload in them. Best thing to do it get the ride heights correct both sides, then just get the ARB on the closest spline, then lever it down to get the bolt in one side, this is how i always do it. Jrod 7 Posted March 1, 2007 What you are saying is what I did. When I put the car on the floor now the car will be sitting level either side is what i meant? I assume by what you are saying it will be a yes.
Jrod 7 Posted March 2, 2007 Well I've just put it down. (after taking the beam off, and fitting solid mounts, those bushes are bastards!) It sits about 3mm higher on one side, that's acceptable yes?
Sam 4 Posted March 3, 2007 (edited) It's french, its never going to be even. Nice to see you're progressing with it though. Sorry about the wheels, if I get very desperate for cashI may sell - it may happen! Cya from Hawaii Edited March 3, 2007 by Sam
