Jack car up, undo the 2 front wishbone bolts, put them through the brace, back into the wishbone and just nip them up, then drop the car on it's wheels and tighten to right torque.

Not a 205, but it shows quite nicely:

Simple, they just bolt up to the subframe! Told you not to get one though, they're not that good, flex about quite alot, a bit uninspiring. :)

The OMP one that midlife showed me for the 306 was quite flexy too (and doesn't fit...)- about 3/4" tube - the 205 ones the same?

Yup, pretty much. Move around a hell of alot, i know is meant to be sturdy between the 2 mounting points obviously, but if you can get hold of the centre and it moves much by just pulling on it then i wouldn't bother, waste of money if you ask me.

Quite interesting, you could jack the car up on that one ^^,if you trusted the front wishbone bolts.

Ohh you could jack the car on it no doubt, although it may bend so much you're then actually touching the sump though!! :)

:D

Not on mine, I tried it :D

Although the bolts made a bit of a creaking noise after one wheel got off the ground so I stopped and replaced 'em.

Might have to borrow an OMP brace for dimensions at some point then.

Even the omp one is better than nothing though.

OK Many Thanks for the pictures!

Barry.......they will only move round if the bolts/bushes or lower wishbones are sh***ed, or something else is seriously WRONG! and mine are not as they are all brand new! come see .... when the front end is rebuilt...... soon!

The lower brace will displace the load in corners, Rippthrough, this weekend when I am allowed to play with the 205, I will measure up the 'brace and post it here for everyone!

Cheers

Michael

Yeah as i say, it's probably strong enough laterally across the 2 mountings, and isn't supposed to be moved that way it is if grabbed from the centre anyway, and it isn't *that* bad, probably made it sound worse, but i personally wouldn't bother with one, seeing a few of them.

Best to have a tray if it's small diameter tubing - I think mine would just bounce of things though.

I'll measure it up, and post the dimensions. :(

I will see if there is anyway of bettering it, B) like finding another way of linking the 2 piviot points together, though, I think that I will not be seeing that end of the car for a week or 2 as I'm fixing the back end! :)

I'll sort it, my braces are 1.5" cold drawn steel :(

I use them on my rally pugs, as its something else to help the sumpguard too, although I use a 7mm ally sumpguard, i have still hit it hard enough down the whites to squash the lower brace into the bottom of the gearbox case a bit! Good job the tube aint too thick, but every little helps!
