Warning To Dimma Drivers Wanting To Fit Gti-6 Calipers

Basically, the gti-6 calipers I fitted on the front of my Dimma, well they hit the wheels. :)

 

 

I now need some 5mm spacers just to push the wheel out enough to clear the caliper. Where's the best place to get them from?

 

 

Also, will I need extended bolts? I know it's only 5mm, but is this enough to cause an issue? :)

Cheers for a link to something I've already searched for. Maybe take some time to consider that things like this are slightly different in each case. If you want 25mm spacers then fine the search facility is of help as it tells you you'll need to get extended bolts, or go for hubcentric spacers etc etc...

 

All I'm after is 5mm spcaers, the knowledge of whether I'll need longer bolts, along with the opportunity to tell others that have Dimma wheels, that they wont be able to fit gti-6 calipers behind them without spcacers.

You'll need longer bolts really as youll only get a couple of turns on the bolt so they'll fall off eventually.

 

I reckon with 5mm spacers you'll also have horrendous wheel vibration due to losing hubcentricity (the wheel won't locate on the remaing couple of mm of spigot due to the taper on both the spigot and the wheel centre bore.

i tried this on my rear beam with 5mm spacers . as Chris says you loose hubcentricity. even spinning the wheel by hand you see just how off centre it is , and its impossible to centre correctly.

Sorry mi-man, my bad. You wont be able to get 5mm hubcentric spacers, it will be more of a shim if anything

wich as stated above will cause wheel wobble. I've had plain old 25mm spacers before and you do get bad wobble at certain speeds.

A: Good morning, Dave. Unfortunatly you have to have a spacer that is thicker than the original cars locating spigot which is normaly 10mm the smallest we can supply in hubcentric is 15mm, however if you shorten the spigot on the car to approximatly 5mm either by grinding the excess away or getting someone to put it in a lathe and machine it off, we could machine 5mm off the face of one of our spacers at a cost of about £8 for 2 spacers, that will do the job. On further investigation, the wheel does spin, although they do clip they caliper carrier as it spins.... would it be safe enough to either just grind a notch out of each spoke or just grind the caliper yoke enough for the wheel to miss?

 

I know this sounds dodgy, but the wheel does spin and only just touches the yoke (you hear it 'clip,clip,clip'...as it spins)

Should not be too much of a problem taking a small amount of the yoke. I had to do this when fitting

my big brake conversion, aslong as it's not on any critical part of the brake caliper/yoke it should be fine mate.
