Recommended Posts

Guest markiboy2007

my 205 is sittin on koni yellows rite now, but sits very high at the front (looks about standard ride height)

i want to go pretty low at the front, what would you guys suggest height wise, and which springs to use with my koni shocks??

also how difficult is it to lower 205's at the rear???

thanks!

Thats strange, the Koni yellow kit I have came with -35mm lowering springs, although its more like -30mm

As for the rear, well if you've not done it before, it can prove to be hard graft, although there are plenty of guides and good people of the Forum to help you out, and as the obligatory sentence goes " Could be opening up a whole can of worms"

Ive noticed that 90% of 205's have a very suttle lowering i.e 30mm. does lowering a 205 for example 40/60mm ruin the handling of the car?

yes, the wishbones end up with the hub end higher than the inboard end which ruins the handling IMO.

I too think this is the case. My car must be lowered about 40mm and on a perfectly smooth road the handling is great. But introduce any bumps and it gets interesting.

I am chaing it to give a 25mm drop after trying several set ups.

exactly. I tried a few different ride heights on my mates car that has coilovers fitted and the handling is transformed when the wishbones are at the right angle.

The only problem with this is that it seem roughly standard ride height gives the wishbones the best angle. Mine isn't particularly low and the wishbones are pretty much vertical.

Ive got 50mm autofive springs on my konis and personally I love it, although wouldnt recommend going any lower, and If i were to do it again, would probably stick to a 40mm drop at max.

Oh and dont have the konis as stiff as they can go, it would appear at stiffest theyre actually stiffer then the top plates and chassis top... :D lol

Live and learn I guess!

Yeh whatever you do, dont wind the front's right up in wet conditions :D

Mine is lowered -30mm all round, and im very happy with it, although i would consider another 5, possibley 10, just for aesthetics purposes :P
