Alternative Axle Stand And Jacking Points?

Recommended Posts

Dream Weaver

My 205 is on axle stands at the minute as I'm replacing all the front suspension.

The stands are in my usual spot on the end of the subframe, below the front wishbone points.

I now need to drop the subframe a bit as I spent hours trying to swap the ARB bushes today without any joy, bloody things :o

So, where else can I place the axle stands whilst I do the bushes, and anyone got any tips for doing thse bloody ARB bushes?

on the sills, where the jacking points are, best to use something between the stand and the sill thouigh as normal stands usually damage th sill.

Can't you put the axle stands under the sills at the front, where the normal jacking place would be?

Yeah, my sills are already a bit buggered as well.

How about placing a long wood beam right under the car, then placing the stands under that?

yeh , under the sills/ i use half metre lengths of decking . its good because it has ridges in it for the sill to positively locate on and its quite a strong wood(and i had some lying around) . with the load being spread over a good area, it causes no damage.
