pugpete1108 62 1 Cars Posted February 17, 2007 finally got round to getting a new sump for my six (courtesy of a 406 sri turbo) and want to use my 8v oil temp sensor in the sump but found the thread is too big , is it possiblt to tap this out ? to what size? alternativly can i use the xu10 sensor ( two wire instead of one) on my 8v guage , will it work ? i am assuming the gti6 one goes to a seperate earth whereas the 8v gti one earths through the sump itself , am i correct in thinking that? Jonmurgie 2 Posted February 17, 2007 I take it the Mi16 Oil Temp Sender will be the same thread as the 8v? If it's likely to be the same as the GTi6 then I have one for sale, check my For Sale thread

I think your best bet will be to use the XU10 sensor and connect the positive to your origanal sensor wire and connect the other to earth some where else. I think its worth a try before you start tapping out your new sump. Mistakes happen unfortunetly. I always test the less distructive methods first! let me know if it works! steve

pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted February 20, 2007 You could always get the newer 8v ones that are 14mm thread instead of 16mm. Pug part number 0242 81. Graham.
