matty_gti 20 Posted February 16, 2007 (edited) hi all, Just to start my battery is in the original location under the bonnet and yes i have searched....its all about the batterys being in the boot! My cables coming away from my battery to the starter, alt, earth and that distridution box thats bolted to the slam panel are all frayed and split so ive just bort some new gold plated terminals that each have 4 inputs for cables... 2x 8 guage 2x 4 gauge I want to replace all these main cables...seeeing as i dont know how long they've been on there for... Can some one please tell me what gauge cables i should use for as follows... 1) Battery -> starter... 2) Battery -> alternator... 3) Battery -> distribution box (bolted to slam panel)... 4) Battery -> earth gearbox... 5) Battery -> earth on inside wing/amplifier I need the cable gauges for both my 1.1 TU and 1.6 XU ThAnKs Edited February 16, 2007 by matty_gti Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
matty_gti 20 Posted February 17, 2007 Just been reading my haynes manual on electrical systems and in there is a wire gauge selection table. Ive got it down to 'circuit amperes' is 12v with 200amps for 3 feet of wire it says gauge 10.....now isnt that to small?....I understand a starter is 200amps +, ive even read that its 300amps +!!!
