Brake Fluid

Recommended Posts

Guest latestarter2

i appear to be losing fluid and I think its coming from the base of the reservoir tank? The 2 necks off the holes at the base of the atnk seem to be split as they wobble too easily for my liking.

Question is (as the Haynes manual isnt clear) can I just replace the tank itself and how does it fit on?

cheers

I'm not 100% sure but 3 reckon you can just replace the 2 seals.

I'd imagine any motor factor could get them, or just go to a Pug dealer.

Probably not very expensive.

the seals are replaceable. don't know if you can buy them individually but they do come with a new m/c.

the reservoir is just a push fit into the m/c - there's a lip on the end of each neck.

it's a good idea to check these necks, just to be sure there are no moulding burrs in the plastic - it's possible they could damage the seals as you push the reservoir in. lubricate the seals with brake fluid as you push the reservoir in too.

some wobbling of the reservoir is normal.

i had the same problem a while ago and ended up replacing the reservoir, cap and m/c. reservoir and cap weren't cheap (as lumps of plastic go) as i recall.
